Robotic process automation (RPA) training: virtual session
Overview
OVERVIEW
Robotic process automation (RPA) is a software technology that makes it easy to build, deploy, and manage software robots that emulate humans actions interacting with digital systems and software. Just like people, software robots can do things like understand what’s on a screen, complete keystrokes, navigate systems, identify and extract data, and perform a wide range of defined actions. But software robots can do it faster and more consistently than people, without the need to get up and stretch or take a coffee break.
In this training we will not only define RPA, but we will also demonstrate how the internal auditor can use RPA to its benefit. For companies that use RPA for executing key processes RPA could (or should) be object of research for the internal auditor. Using real life cases, we will illustrate how the internal auditor can perform an audit on the use of RPA. After this training you will know exactly what RPA is, why it is so popular, how you can use it to your benefit and how you can audit it.
Learning goals
The participant is able to:
- describe the main principles of RPA;
- explain the importance of RPA;
- illustrate the strength and weaknesses of RPA;
- apply RPA for monitoring purposes; and
- create criteria for performing an internal audit on RPA.
Agenda
The beauty of RPA
- What is RPA? How different is it to AI and traditional IT?
- Understanding the RPA platform and its components
- Features of a software robot
- Process fitness: when to apply RPA?
- Use case examples
The risks of RPA
- How can robots help internal auditors?
- The top RPA risks you must pay attention to
- Auditing approach on RPA
- Need to know: key steps from idea to robot
- RPA Governance Framework: key questions to ask
