Message from your President

Dear Members of our Institute,
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of all the IIA Board members, the IIABEL team and myself, we wish you and your families a happy and prosperous new year 2022!

As you know, 2021 was another challenging year for us all and for the internal audit profession. The IIABEL kept on experiencing the impact of the ongoing pandemic on its activities, but – thanks to the great efforts of the IIABEL team and the support of the IIA members – the Institute was able to organise most of its planned trainings, seminars and events, and we thank all participants for their attendance and active contribution. We cannot overstate our gratitude for your continued flexibility and support in these difficult and challenging times.
In June 2021, the General Assembly elected the new Board of Directors, with all new members, except one, Olivier Dedier, who continued his commitments from his prior board mandate and who ensures the continuity between the work of the new and the previous board. As their President, I am confident to say that we, together with the IIABEL team, are committed and competent to take on the challenges which lie ahead of us.
We all agreed that our core mission is to further develop and lift the IIABEL service offering to the next level and scale up the capabilities of our members in view of new and emerging internal audit topics. More in particular, we endeavour to continue delivering high quality training courses, networking opportunities and knowledge sharing for all our members, irrespective of their job position, career path, sector-specific requirements and/or other identified needs.
In addition to our overall ambitions, I am also very proud to announce that on 6-7 October 2022, the IIABEL will host the annual ECIIA conference, this year to be held in Brussels. The “ECIIA Conference 2022: Internal Audit in a world of transition – Let’s reconnect” will be a great and unique opportunity to network with our Belgian, European and international colleagues and members of the other Institutes. Please mark the event in your agendas. We count on your attendance and support! If you wish to recommend speakers or interesting topics, feel free to reach out to us.
And last but not least, check our new training program.
Soon we will meet and raise the glass to the New Year at IIABEL’s New Year Reception on 3 February at the Thon Hotel (let’s keep our fingers crossed that we can…).
In the meantime, stay happy and healthy!
Kind regards,

Isabel Derison
President Board of Directors IIABEL
